Yes. Our electricians are CEC certified so that your installation is carried out in a safe way by professionals with accreditation and experience.
What are STC's?
STCs (Small Scale Technology Certificates) are created by the installation of green energy systems. These certificates are used as a form of currency, you may keep them, sell them, or sign them over to Solar United to reduce the cost of your solar energy. The larger the system, the more STC’s you have.
How does PV work?
PV, or photovoltaic, materials and devices convert daylight into electrical energy. Even on dull, rainy days our PV modules will work, as they only require daylight to generate energy! The PV modules only require daylight to work, as a result, it will generate energy even on dull and rainy days. When determining the amount of electricity a PV system might generate, temperature must also be taken into account. PV modules operate better at cooler temperatures, however for every degree that is above 25 degrees celsius, the efficiency of your PV module will decrease by a fraction.
Does a PV system require any maintenance?
Your Solar PV system requires minimal maintenance. With no moving parts, natural elements such as rain should be enough to keep it clean. Yes, a build up of dirt can affect system performance, with extreme cases of dust or dirt build up resulting in a reduction of 10% in power. In most cases however, if your array tilt is at least a 15 degree angle, dust accumulation and self-cleaning will reach a steady state after a few weeks. The design of the system should aim to minimize uneven soiling. To maintain optimal efficiency, we recommend servicing your PV system annually.
Are there grants available for solar?
At present, Government grants are unfortunately not on offer. They are however offering incentives in the form of STC’s (Small Scale Technology Certificate) to help cover the cost of a PV installation for domestic systems. Check in with our friendly team to find out more.
